Commission an Original Oil Portrait by Rupert W Brooks

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait then this section explains a little more about the process involved.

"For me, painting a portrait is about producing something lasting and beautiful, which will provide enjoyment and interest for many years. I aim not only to capture a good likeness but also to try and provide an insight into each individual's personality and character. I paint in a clean, fresh manner and hope to bring a contemporary feel to the ancient practice of portraiture."

"Wherever possible, I prefer to work from life, with a series of informal sittings. Photography is used in the early stages as an aid to composition and can be useful if the sitter has limited time, or the subject is young and prolonged sittings are difficult. It is important for me that the sitter feels comfortable and relaxed and that the experience is an enjoyable and memorable one."

Commissioning a painting is a very straight forward process. Initially, you may like to contact the studio without obligation, where Rupert will be very happy to talk with you concerning your requirements.

Pricing for a commission varies depending on the size and complexity of the subject. As a guide, prices range from £750 to £5000 for a single figure portrait. This does not include framing, or travelling expenses if outside the South West.
