Stage 2 Drawing in
Once the composition had been settled upon, work on the canvas could begin. For me, I like to draw and stain in the outline first with French Ultramarine paint, before I begin to apply any colour. I try and make sure that the drawing and draughtsmanship is accurate at this early stage.
You will note that with this particular canvas you can see the under paint and outline from a previous painting, that was initially started and then abandoned in favour of a different size.
